Mercedes EV Breaks World Record

Mercedes EQXX Completes Record-Breaking 1,200km Journey On Single Charge

The Mercedes EQXX turned up at last-weekends Goodwood Festival of Speed having just completed a world-record run from Stuttgart to Silverstone on a single charge.

The high tech EQXX was able to make this trip thanks to its high-tech thermal management system and streamlined body and 100kW lithium-ion battery. This is the same battery as found in the Mercedes EQS, however vitally is 50% smaller and 30% lighter than the original design.

As a result of this, the car can only reach a top speed of 87mph, however for road users who aren’t too bothered about high-performance, this is something to get very excited about.

The car, driven by Formula 2 and Formula E Champion Nyck de Vries, will sadly never be made available to the public but instead has given Mercedes lots of valuable learning about EV efficiency.
